The only association in Auckland that doesn't profit from your property decisions
APIA is a non-profit, member-funded body. Independent of developers, brokers and product sellers — by design.

Our mission
To provide property investors with independent education, meaningful advocacy, and a genuine community so they can make confident decisions, stay compliant, and build resilient portfolios.
We submit to government on your behalf. We challenge unfair regulation. We educate on the law, the market, and best practice. And we connect you with a network of investors who share your challenges and your ambition.
APIA exists for one reason: to serve our members' interests
Not to sell you property. Not to broker your mortgage. Not to earn a commission on your decisions.
Our job is to give you the knowledge to invest well, the connections to invest wisely, and the collective voice to make sure the rules around your investment stay fair.

Why the model matters
The property investment space is crowded with advice. But most of it comes from businesses that profit from the decisions you make. Mortgage brokers recommend products they earn commissions on. Developer-backed advisories guide you toward properties they get paid to sell. Accounting firms upsell services tied to the strategies they suggest.
APIA is a non-profit association. We’re funded by membership subscriptions and sponsorships not by commissions, referrals, or developer fees. That means every piece of information we publish is curated with your interests in mind — not ours. Independent. Unbiased. Advocacy-led.
When you read an APIA market update, attend an APIA event, or rely on APIA’s advocacy you can trust that nobody behind it stands to profit from the decision you make.
Education
Workshops, panels, briefings and APIA TV — built around what experienced investors actually need to know to operate well in Auckland’s market.
Advocacy
We make formal submissions, meet with officials, and represent member interests in policy reviews on tenancy law, healthy homes, building standards, council rates and consenting.
Community & Networking
An association of Auckland investors who genuinely talk to each other — not a pipeline for someone’s property syndicate. Members find peers, mentors, and trusted contacts.
Resources & Support
Curated news, plain-English regulatory updates, tenancy law explainers, compliance checklists and a vetted directory of trades and professionals.
The board you'll never see selling anything
APIA’s board is volunteer, governed by an Incorporated Society constitution, and made up of working investors and independent professionals.
They serve members because they believe in the model — not because there’s a commission at the end of it.
